Main Purpose of Role:

To be responsible for all aspects of bull welfare including feeding, bedding and be experienced in handling and moving bulls as required.

Key Responsibilities:

- Handling livestock, Undertake the animal welfare including assisting with the daily care of all livestock i.e. cleaning, feeding, watering and all factors relating to maintenance, breeding and good health to ensure a clean and healthy environment is maintained.

- Must be livestock free and bio-security conscious to ensure the protocols are followed within the stud

- To continuously develop and improve them selves and the way they work

- To comply with Company policy and best practise in security, legal and regulatory compliance

- To ensure that all H&S responsibilities are fulfilled and that the team's (including the role holder), visitors and contractors safety and welfare is maintained

- To complete any other duties as required from time to time

Internal Breeding Advisor

Reporting to: Team Leader

Primary Location: Cogent Head Office

Main Purpose of Role: To provide first class advice to Dairy Farmers on the portfolio of products & services on the telephone to achieve both individual and team sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

 

- To review, plan and prioritise the daily customer call schedule

- To provide first class advice on Cogent products & services in order to fit to the customer requirements

- To manage and build a database of customers in order to achieve your individual targets

- To establish & maintain good customer relationships and provide excellent customer service at all times

- To develop & maintain knowledge of the Cogent portfolio of products & services

- To develop & maintain knowledge of the industry and market trends

- To ensure that the company policies and procedures are adhered to

- To continuously develop and improve both themselves and the working practices

- To comply with Company policy and best practise in security, legal and regulatory compliance

An operational role, responsible for developing and delivering the people plan in line with the business strategy. Constantly reviews service levels, existing processes and practices to ensure that they are meeting the needs of internal customers and that Cogent remains compliant.

Develop and implement the people plan for a business with c 125 employees and an annual turnover in the region of £18m*(*As at date of latest version of Role Profile)

 

The role will have no direct reports.

 

Interfaces

Internal: Senior Management, Sales, International and Production & Supply Chain teams. Wheatsheaf and Grosvenor HR teams.

External: External regulatory and governing bodies, Suppliers, Universities, colleges and other recruitment bodies.

 

Accountabilities

A support role to members of the Senior Leadership Team, and will contribute to the development and implementation of the overall Cogent business strategy by ensuring an effective people plan is in place.

This is a business partnership role. Must hold a relevant degree or CIPD qualification and has had a minimum of 5 years in a HR generalist position or 2 years as first appointment HR Manager. Precision Technician - Lancashire, Somerset & South Wales Regions

Reporting to: Precision Operations Manager & Team Leader

Primary Location:  Allocated region

 

 

 

Main Purpose of Role: To operate and deliver a high quality reproduction and breeding service on behalf of Cogent Breeding and give expert advice to assist customers in meeting reproductive objectives and assist with developing the Reproductive Service.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

         Assist the Precision Reproductive Solutions Team in delivering a professional service to new and existing customers

         Build effective relationships with customers to deliver a service that meets their breeding requirements

         Run an efficient service utilising Cogent PinPoint and the supporting IT database, Precision Data Plus (PD+), to ensure accurate and timely artificial insemination of cattle

         Assist customers with installing and moving PinPoint collars as required.

         Take responsibility for all fertility data reporting and herd reports by updating and utilising PD+ to ensure accurate record keeping.

         Prepare PD+ reports and give detailed action reports to customers and your Team Leader

         Liaise with industry professionals such as Veterinarians and nutritionists

         Continuously develop and improve the working practices of both you and your team

         At all times comply with Company policy and ensure best practice in security, legal and regulatory compliance.

         Within the role you will be expected to ensure that all health and safety and welfare responsibilities are fulfilled of both the role holder and team (to include visitors and contractors)

         Complete other duties on behalf of Cogent from time to time if required.

 



Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • High standard of artificial insemination and technical ability.
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry and the ability to understand and converse with industry professionals such as Veterinarians and nutritionists is essential.
  • Experience of providing reproductive technical advice and solutions to the modern livestock producer.
  • A basic understanding of computers and management software is essential to fulfil the role.
