Sammie strengthens Cogent's genetics team

The Genetics team at Cogent Breeding has been given a boost this week with the appointment of Sammie Wilson as Beef Genetics and Product Analyst.

Sammie, who will analyse and evaluate all Cogent beef progeny throughout the UK, is currently based in Haughton, Staffordshire where her parents run a suckler herd made up of pedigree Limousins and commercial cattle over 350 acres.

As a recent graduate from Harper Adams University, Sammie completed her placement year at world-renowned Arethusa Farm where she expanded her passion for genetics. She will also be a familiar face in Staffordshire where she has been an active member of Eccleshall Young Farmers and competed in many competitions including Stock Judging at national level.

Boomer Birch, Cogent's Beef Sire Analyst, said: "Sammie is well-known in the agricultural community across Staffordshire and we are pleased to welcome her to the genetics team. Her knowledge of the industry as well as her enthusiasm to promote the best of beef genetics will be a real asset to Cogent. We look forward to introducing her to our customers throughout the country."

Sammie said: "I am very excited to become part of the beef genetics team at Cogent, working with exceptionally high quality beef sires. Combining my passion for genetics, the industry and knowledge, I hope I can contribute to the constant growth of this vibrant and ambitious company."
