Cogent strengthens UK leadership team with double appointment

The driving force behind improvement in livestock genetics, reproduction and selection, Cogent Breeding, has strengthened its country and regional focus with the appointment of Ed Parrish and Richard Hughes.

As manager for the Central region, Ed Parish will lead Cogent's operations and delivery of service to a growing customer base within central England. He joins Cogent with a wealth of experience in dairy herd management having spent the last 10 years running high yielding herds in Shropshire and a Grazing specialist herd in Cheshire.

Richard Hughes joins Cogent with 26 years experience in ruminant nutrition, running sales and product development teams for Bibbys and NWF. His post as Country Manager for Wales will see him harness Cogent's opportunities for growth throughout the country and work alongside producers to enhance the company's portfolio and provide a first class service on farm.

Cogent's UK General Manger, James Hallett, said: "The arrival of Ed and Richard is a significant milestone in Cogent's strategic development and enhances our ability to real value on farm.
Cogent's ultimate goal is to deliver the excellent value and service that our customers rightly expect and we need the best people to do that."

"Both Ed and Richard are highly-regarded in their field and their wide-ranging expertise is a important addition to our team. We are thrilled they have chosen to join us."

Ed said: "I'm relishing the prospect of taking part in this new challenge, working with Cogent and representing the area I have lived in for so many years. The wealth of agriculture we have in Central England means farming is a very big part of everyday life and I'm honoured to be at the forefront of Cogent's operations in this area. I can't wait to meet my new customers and get to grips with the issues they face."

Richard said: "I am as passionate about the dairy industry as I am about effective customer service and delivery on product potential. Cogent's presence throughout Wales has been growing at an exceptional rate and I am delighted to be joining them at this juncture. The opportunity to help breeders throughout the country develop and improve their herds is an exciting prospect and I look forward to combining Cogent's know-how with my own experience to deliver a first-class service on farm."

Ed and Richard will fully start their new roles with Cogent on 4th January 2016.
