Cogent Progeny lead the way at Agriscot.

Wednesday saw one of Scotlands leading dairy shows take place at the Royal Highland Showground in Edinburgh Scotland. One of the shows main attractions was the competitive classes of Ayrshires, Jerseys, and Holsteins both black & white and red & white.

It was great to see progeny of Cogent supplied sires doing so well. Amongst the class winners of the day; a high producing daughter of Glanmor Belmont Welsh Wizard from our range of proven jersey sires - Enchanted Wizard Jess exhibited by Andrew and Pat Wilson stormed to the top of the class Judge Mark Logan put the advantage over the second heifer down to 'the quality of her mammary system. Higher and wider in the rear, but particularly in the way her fore udder blended into her body.' Jess is no stranger to the limelight having been crowned Jersey Champion Heifer earlier in the year at the Royal Highland Show.

Later in the Ayrshire ring spectators cheered as two daughters of Ardmore Crown Napier triumphed in two of the strongest classes of the day. Current poster girl for Crown Napier, Syke Glencairn Lolita VG87 owned by the multinational partnership of the Struthers Family and Salvie Esquerdo rose to the top in the senior cow class. Whilst honours in the mature cow class were taken by Cuthill Towers Crown Ray EX91. Crown Ray a 5th calver from the Lawrie family also went on to be crowned champion Ayrshire of the day. Mark Logan commented on this heifer saying 'The Ayrshire champion was a very balanced cow with dairy strength, a quality udder and a lot of style'

In the Holstein section two second places were realised; a daughter of Holmland Saturn red in the Red & White second calver class. Then a fancy uddered VG89 second calver by Cervi Allemar.

In one of the final classes of the show, the Jersey Mature cow class, we were delighted to see Jimmy and Ifan Wilson's Bluegrass Excitations Prissy Polly EX96 4E take the top spot. Polly, having produced over 45,000kgs of milk at records of over 6% fat is still on top form having now had 6 calves. Her son the super stylish Jersey young sire Tregibby Yegabomb is available at Cogent.
