Partnerships & ProgressIn 2024, Cogent entered into some significant partnership agreements to enhance our genetic offerings and provide significant benefits to our customers. Exclusive Distribution Partnership with Dovea GeneticsFrom the 1st of February 2024, Cogent became the exclusive distributor of Dovea Genetics in the UK. We are now proud to offer the most robust genetic lineup to grazing and block calving customers across the UK. This collaboration also grants our customers access to Dovea's premium beef sires, strengthening our Signature Beef lineup and offering superior genetic solutions for both pedigree and commercial suckler herds.  Genetics Partner of the Gamechanger Beef Supply ChainIn February 2024, Cogent joined forces with Sainsbury’s and ABP as a genetics partner for the Gamechanger beef supply chain. This partnership provides farmers with a wider selection of elite Aberdeen Angus genetics, including our 4M Ultraplus male sexed product. Our customers benefit from secure and profitable calf outlets, producing high-quality, sustainable beef while maximising efficiency throughout the supply chain.  These strategic partnerships signify our dedication to delivering advanced genetic solutions to provide our customers with the best breeding options to benefit their herds. Record-Breaking Captain2024 was an exceptional year for history-making Genosource Captain. He spent 6 consecutive proofs as the number one £PLI bull and 7 consecutive proofs as the top TPI sire. Known for producing exceptional Holstein daughters, Captain has left an indelible mark across the globe. With 7934 daughters in 4994 herds, he has taken his production reliability to 99%. In the UK, Captain has 1274 milking daughters (in 105 herds) and their performance has been incredible, with many herds experiencing The Captain Effect.  *Boghill Glamour Captain SS Carlin F GP84, dam to a number of new bulls from Cogent EcoFeed: Award-Winning Sustainability Innovation
EcoFeed was honoured with the Innovation in Climate Action International Dairy Federation (IDF) Award, on 18 October 2024 at the IDF World Dairy Summit in Paris, France. EcoFeed is the world’s largest evidence-based Feed Efficiency index developed by ST Genetics and is backed with over 1.6 million daily feed intake records. In 2024, the results of the EcoFeed Project were also published highlighting the impact of EcoFeed in a UK setting. The 3-year trial Cogent started with Kite Consulting in 2020, demonstrated the benefits of using genomics to improve productivity and sustainability on four commercial dairy farms in Derbyshire. The Project established baseline EcoFeed scores and quantified the potential for increasing these scores over the trial period.  |
