With Triple Impact products available across the breeds, Cogent can deliver a combination of highly proven beef sires in a mix to suit a variety of systems. The reason for Triple Impact’s success is that mixing the semen of more than one bull in a single straw opens the fertilisation window. For a sperm cell to fertilise an egg it must undergo a process called capacitation. Each bull has a different capacitation rate, so by mixing sperm from multiple bulls, there is a higher likelihood that some sperm will be at the optimal capacitation state for fertilisation at the time of insemination.
This extended window of capacitation will increase the chance of conception in difficult-to-breed cows, who may simply release their egg later in their oestrus period.
